The Grand Isle Port Commission would like to honor the life and memory of Perry “Honey” James Chighizola, Sr., 86, a beloved native and resident of Grand Isle and a dedicated Grand Isle Port Commissioner, who entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Mr. Perry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Emma “Babe” Cheramie Chighizola; his children, P.J. and John; his grandchildren, Hayden (Anna), Chance, Taylor (George), and Alyssa; and his sister, Vera Chighizola.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Sue Chighizola; his parents, Hansel and Mazie Guidry Chighizola; his grandparents, Zilda Melanie Chighizola and Alcide Urban Chighizola, Jr., and Barbe Bradberry and Cyriaque Guidry; and his mother and father-in-law, Webb Sr. and Margie Cheramie.
A proud Coast Guard veteran, Mr. Perry was a man of many talents. He was a master at reel repair and rod wrapping and loved to spend his days sitting on his downstairs swing, watching hummingbirds, and cherishing time with his family. His hobbies included golfing, hunting, fishing, dancing, and computer work, and he was known for his unwavering work ethic throughout his life.
Mr. Perry touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his family and friends.
Visitation & Funeral Services
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church in Grand Isle on January 27, 2025, from 9:30 AM until service time.
Mr. Perry’s Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 AM, followed by a procession to his burial at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.
