The 4th Annual Grand Isle Juried Exhibition - 2006

The Grand Isle Community Development Team, Inc. (GICDT) with support from the Grand Isle Port Commission and the Town of Grand Isle, invites artists to enter their works with themes relating to the nature, natural beauty and potential loss of the only inhabited Louisiana barrier island and the surrounding wetlands. The goal of the exhibition is to raise awareness of Louisiana’s coastal erosion through an artist’s eye and to encourage the creation and preservation of images of this culture and its disappearing habitat for future generations.
Works selected will be on exhibit at the Grand Isle Community Center, Hwy. 1, Grand Isle, Louisiana April 15th - 23rd.  A reception and awards presentation will be held on April 23rd, 2006.

Artist Bradley Sabin works primarily in ceramics -- a material that is as fragile as our ecosystem yet potentially as tough as mother nature. His organic forms and the constructions he creates with them display both the rough textures and incredibly smooth hand of nature, capturing individual elements (bone / flower / fruit) in an elegant, studied manner, arranged and perfected. He received his BFA at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his MFA in Ceramics at LSU, Baton Rouge, La.  After having been Chief Preparator and Operations Manager at The Contemporary Art Center he is now Assistant Director at Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans. He is represented by the Baton Rouge Gallery and by the Soren Christensen Gallery, New Orleans with his last exhibition “New Work” March 5 - 31, 2005.  Sabin has work currently in the exhibition “Made In New Orleans: A Survey of Contemporary Art from the Crescent City” at Space 301, Mobile Alabama until January 8th, 2006. The Juror and the Art Committee will have final authority over the exhibition of artworks.

$1000 for the work judged ‘Best of Show’ and three ‘Awards of Excellence’ of  $500 each will be presented.  All award recipients and contributors will be listed in the exhibition catalog.
