  A BP class for commercial vessels was held Tuesday, May 4, at 9AM  
   and 1PM at the Grand Isle Community Center- over 300 people were in attendance.

 Commercial Vessel Coast Guard  Inspections will be available at the Nautical Point Marina Dock, 133 Caminada Drive, at East end of Island (Dock between SandDollar Marina and A-Port) Wednesday,    May 5th Between 9AM and 4PM 
   Inshore, Zone 2 Shrimp Season closing May 4, 6PM
THERE HAS BEEN NO CLOSURE OF FISHING with the exception of the inshore shrimp.

  Currently all waterways are open for normal traffic and fishing
THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE IN POLICY FOR COAST GUARD INSPECTIONS for vessels involved in oil spill/BP operations!
Coast Guard Inspections are not required to allow your vessel to be employed in cleanup/boom operations.  After your required class, you will be given a sign-off form from BP representatives, concerning your vessel requirements.

  Weather conditions have been favorable for Grand Isle, keeping oil on east side of Louisiana.
   Jefferson Parish, Grand Isle's Mayor Camardelle, Town Council, G.I. Levee Board, and G.I. Port                  Commission have been working to ensure readiness, if and when the Grand Isle area could be affected.     Containment booms and equipment are being delivered to the island in preparation of possible needs.

  500 People Need to be Hired to Help with the Oil Spill Clean-up
   (May 3, 2010 - Metairie, LA) - The New Orleans Business Council has asked us to help spread the
   word.   Advanced Industrial Services is looking to hire 500 people to help with the oil spill clean-up.
